Back in Monaco
Saturday, January 16th, 2010I have been back in Monaco for a week now and have been trying to get into work mode again. This has been made much more difficult by the fact that I have had a terrible cold for most of the week however I have had time to do some business planning and set some goals for the next 12 months.
I find it helps to put these goals down in writing so below are some of my key business goals for 2010:
Finalise and launch AnyJobAds.com and MC-PSL.com
Finish beta testing of CorpRecordPro and launch to wider market of financial service providers.
Revamp and relaunch RivieraAds and MonacoPropertyAds
Provide a running commentary on the build up to the Monaco F1 and Monaco Historic Grand Prix on this and possibly another GP site.
Develop my website creation, optimisation and management business.
Continue to develop alliances with overseas outsources.
Those are a few of my ideas – hope to keep you updated with my progress over the next 12 months.

Search Engine Optimisation – OliverGoldsmith, Dita, SALT Luxury Eyewear
Saturday, November 21st, 2009I make posts on this blog for a variety of reasons, sometimes just to have a rant about something that has bugged me, or to report on the progress of Liverpool Football Club and the Monaco Branch of the Supporters Club, however on other occasions I make a post regarding a friends business or my business in order to get Search Engine Ranking Position (SERP) for various keywords and help market the business.
The last post I made Oliver Goldsmith, Dita and SALT Sunglasses was made after an evening in the Pub watching Ireland robbed by Thierry Henry’s double handball and the officials inability to spot said handballs and the earlier off-side!
I had watched the game with Anthony Reid who is the owner of SeeQual SARL, a newly formed Monaco Company which has the European Distribution Rights for the Oliver Goldsmith, Dita and SALT Luxury eyewear brands. SeeQual have just launched their new website and he was asking for some advice on how to get a good SERP.
Having promised to have a look at his site and being unable to sleep for cursing the French, I sat at the PC for a couple of hours and came up with a number of very fundamental changes to the site which should increase the organic SERP. I also decided to make a post to this blog to illustrate how a first page Google Ranking could be achieved fairly easily.
Sure enough within an hour or so the post appeared on the first page of Google.co.uk and Google.fr for the following search phrases:
salt. eyewear european distributor
salt eyewear european distributor
european distributor of salt eyewear
oliver goldsmith eyewear european distribution
Oliver Goldsmith Sunglasses European Distributor
dita eyewear european distributor
Satisfied and tired enough to forget the French I sent Anthony an email illustrating what I had done and went to bed.
The following day I spoke to Anthony and after an initial technical problem with the hosting company he got the same results as I did for Google Searches and understood better that it is a necessary part of web site creation to make sure that the site is optimised for the correct keyword phrases.
That evening I was closing down for the day and decided to google search for some other keywords and see if there had been any changes overnight. I was astounded to find that there was no reference to this blog post in either Yahoo or Google and to date there still is not.
If anyone has any ideas what has caused this please let me know, I don’t think the post broke any of Google’s guidelines and the other posts are still referenced, perhaps it is linked with the technical problems with the hosting which put the site down for a good part of Thursday.
I will keep you posted if I anything else occurs!

Liverpool 2 Manchester United 0
Friday, November 6th, 2009Following a humiliating 4 defeats in a row (our worst losing run in over 22 years) Liverpool had to face Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday. I was not confident!
As it happened I was flying back to Liverpool on Saturday morning to visit family for the weekend. I was sitting next to two French guys on the flight and it turned out that they were in a party of 6 going to the game and they had 7 tickets – well by the time I was clearing passport control I had a ticket for the match!
Huge sellout crowd as expected but you could sense that the Liverpool fans were not as confident as usual even if they were putting brave faces on it, given the controversy about the beachball the previous week I was not surprised to see this guy outside the ground before the game
And the Liverpool fans in the Kop were not going to be left out either
The first half was rubbish by both sides and at half time it was 0-0, however a bit of magic by Torres gave Liverpool the lead in the second half and after a nerve racking last 10 minutes Ngog gave secured the win with a second in the last few minutes.
As you can probably see from Pepe Reina’s position on the pitch, he was fairly happy with the goal!
Massive celebrations afterwards as you can imagine
Always great to beat the Mancs! Unfortunately back to the same dismal performance a week later losing 3 – 1 away to Fulham.

I have just relaunched RivieraAds an advertising site for English Speaking businesses and services in Monaco and the French Riviera.
The site allows advertisers to put up a photo advert with text and a link to their web site in the category of their choice. If they do not have their own web site then they can create and host a wep page within the system.
The site is currently free (for life) to anyone who wants to place an advert but as more advertisers sign up I may start charging a small monthly fee in the future.
Some of the adverts that have already been posted :
In the next few weeks will be adding to this site additional advertising sites including:
Monaco Ads
Monaco Property Ads
Riviera Property Ads
There will also be article pages giving general information about living and working in Monaco and the Cote D’Azur.
If you have anything that you would like to be included in the site please post a comment.

Monday, February 11th, 2008Superball
Monday, February 4th, 2008I got invited to a friends house for a superball party last night. Here in Monaco the coverage was due to start about 22H and the match at midnight. I arrived around 22H30 and we settled in for some tacos, beers and football. Unfortunately no-one had checked if they could get the channel that was showing the game….
Not the end of the world as no on us were real fans – it was in fact just an excuse for a party which we had no intention of spoiling just because we couldn’t see the game!
So I staggered back to my place at about 5am checked online to find that there had been one of the biggest upsets in Softball history and the underdog Giants came back to win the game in
the final minute.
All that goes to show firstly the importance of planning in any situation and secondly the fact that the small guy can succeed even in the most adverse circumstances. Also of course if you are not on the pitch you cannot win the game!
So whatever youi are doing make sure to plan, take action and don’t give up.
“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”
I missed the game but caught some of the ads!
Keep The Faith
