On Tuesday we had the first outing of the Monaco branch of the Liverpool Supporters Club.

Seven of us had obtained tickets through the Club for the Fiorentina V Liverpool Champions League game in Florence. We left Monaco at midday and arrived in Florence at around 4-30.

We picked up the tickets at the team hotel and headed into town for some sightseeing.

By then we were very thirsty and managed to find a café right in one of the main squares that seemed very happy to let us in. When we got the bill half an hour and three beers later we found out why! € 8.50 for half a lager, we thought it was bad in Monaco!

Off to the ground where we had a great welcome from the Fiorentina fans and staff with free pasta and water outside the ground and banners inside.

Unfortunately Liverpool played like schoolboys in the first half and gave away 2 goals to go in 2-0 down at half time. They were better (but not great) in the second half but failed to put the ball in the back in the net and ended the game losing 2-0.

We bumped into the Paris supporters as we were leaving the game as they were taking some photos.

Not the greatest result for our first away trip but everyone enjoyed the day out and showed interest in going to the game in Lyon at the beginning of December.

We have finally got the Monaco Branch of the Liverpool Football Club Supporters Club up and running and as there was a delegation from LFC in Monte Carlo today from the Champions League draw we arranged to meet up with them and were able to get some photos taken with the great Kenny Dalglish.

20 Year Anniversary of Hillsborough

In Loving Memory of HillsboroughImage by petecarr via Flickr

As any Football fan should know this month marks the 20th Anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

This week the ‘The Fields of Anfield Road’ charity single, featuring former Liverpool players and Liverpool musicians has been released.

All money raised from the sales of the song will be given to the Hillsborough Family Support Group.

You can purchase the song via iTunes, or at HMV online. Buy it legally and help get it into the charts. Together we can raise awareness of the anniversary and the disaster. Encourage your friends and family to do likewise and at the same time educate them why the fight for Justice continues.

If you want to buy the download and find out more about the Hillsborough Memorial Project click here

Smithy’s Sketch Comic Relief

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Comic Relief in the UK raises a huge amount of money for charity every year and always creates some great comic moments.
I did not see all the sketches this year as I was not in the UK but of those I have seen Smithy’s sketch is the winner.

The French and Saunders version of Mamma Mia is also well worth a look.

Part 2

Hope you enjoyed them.
